Seashells

Little quivers and shivers

Vibrations in my ears

Pings and pops

They make me feel

Awake

Like there’s something to hold onto

Do you want to talk about

Something other than this real life?

Something other than the worry

Than the pity

Oh the worry

Than the complex dynamics of social involvement

Let us raise our heads above the water

And take a fresh breath

Of something new

Oh this ocean we’re in is oh so blue

Navy

Black

Black skinny jeans

Buttons torn off

My jumpers with too long sleeves

The sky above the waves is so ominously inconceivable

We gasp in awe

For a second no more

Before we are dragged back down again

Churned and crushed

And spat up on the shore

Now I hear the sound of the seashell

Whispering it’s lullaby

in my ear

Little shivers and quivers

They make me feel awake

Like there’s something to hold onto…
